Healthcare deserves a smart foundation, one that is data-driven, open, and built for the future. And it makes me happy to see that more and more countries, regions, and healthcare providers are embracing this approach.
Data is no longer a passive byproduct of healthcare — it has become one of its most powerful strategic assets. One that needs to be accessible, usable, and interoperable. Siloed systems are increasingly being recognised for what they are: short-term fixes rather than sustainable, long-term solutions in a data-driven age. Across the industry, we are witnessing a shift — one largely driven by the persistent underfunding of healthcare IT and the growing need to unlock the value of data beyond operational care delivery.
There is a clear demand for data that is not only available at the point of care, but also structured, reusable, and ready to support secondary uses such as planning, research, and innovation. Conversations around AI and other advanced technologies are growing louder, but the truth is clear: these discussions remain premature without high-quality, well-structured data as a foundation. The groundwork must come first.
We have been advocating for this shift for years — and today, we are seeing momentum build across the world.
With many of our partners and customers already embracing this approach, we have seen this vision come to life in new markets over the past months. In Spain, our collaboration with NWorld is shaping a more connected, data-driven healthcare system based on open standards. In Sweden, platform-based developments are entering a new stage. In the Baltics, early engagements with openEHR and FHIR-based platforms show growing alignment with these complementary standards. Greece is going live with its national shared care record built on open standards. And in France and the Netherlands, we are expanding into markets where interest in modular, future-ready systems is growing — empowering hospitals to regain control of their digital infrastructure.
Simply put: it has been a busy — and exciting — time. And we are just getting started.
Next month, we will be at SantExpo in Paris and Vitalis in Gothenburg, where our teams and partners will showcase how our platform is supporting health systems across Europe with openness and flexibility. Whether you are curious about our latest projects or just want to talk about data, we would love to connect.
To return to where I began: collaboration, data, and open technology — this is what we at Better stand for. And we are proud to be spreading this vision across markets worldwide, together with our local partners, forward-thinking customers, and passionate team members.
Jet lags and time zones aside — there has never been a more exciting time to be building a healthier, smarter future.
