In these last months, a lot has been happening in the field of digital healthcare in the UK, re-emphasising the need for digital innovation, true shared care records, and integrated data-driven solutions. Better is already making an impact in these areas through our ongoing commitment to transforming healthcare.
2025 will be a very important year for the NHS, with a clear focus on tackling the elective backlog, improving system efficiency, and accelerating digital transformation. As the government simplifies its mandate and prioritises investment in data and digital, we have a real opportunity to drive meaningful change—ensuring that innovation supports both immediate needs and long-term sustainability.
At Better, we have been advocating for an open, platform-based approach to healthcare. Interactive Shared care records are a crucial part of this vision, enabling clinicians to access the right information at the right time and ensuring patients receive more coordinated care with encounters through shared care. A shared, open approach to healthcare data improves coordination between services and creates the foundation for better decision-making, reduced administrative burden, and, ultimately, more time for clinicians to focus on patient care. This enables healthcare teams to deliver innovative solutions without constantly reinventing the wheel.
We are seeing this momentum build across the UK, with more organisations recognising the value of open data and open platforms. An integrated digital NHS shouldn’t mean repeating the same technical challenges across different regions—it should be about creating sustainable, interoperable solutions that work at scale. We have already seen the impact of this approach across leading European hospitals, regions, and nations, proving that shared data improves both care quality and system efficiency.
All of the above-mentioned will definitely be at the heart of the conversations at the Digital Health Rewired 2025 in Birmingham and HPN North in Manchester in March. If you are as passionate about the future of digital health as we are, then let’s meet to discuss how we can work together to create a more connected, data-driven future. I look forward to catching up with many of you there!
