Studio 3.13

With the introduction of the Data Connectors and Expressions Assistant, Better Studio continues to evolve as a leading healthcare software solution for developers, clinicians, and digital health innovators.

This update enhances the way you work with expressions and external data, helping you build faster, reduce errors, and create more intelligent applications, all within a low-code platform for healthcare.

Let’s explore what is new in Better Studio 3.13.

Data Connectors: Seamless integration with external data sources

Healthcare data lives in many places, and connecting to it has not always been straightforward. In previous versions of Studio, API connectors were shared across forms. This means that any change could unintentionally affect multiple forms within a project. With the revamped Data connectors, that’s no longer the case.

Now, you can edit and convert Data connectors directly within a form, without impacting other forms that use the same source. This makes managing external data simpler, safer, and more flexible. It also helps reduce the clutter of long lists of shared APIs, giving you more control over how and where data is used.

Why it matters:

  • dynamic dropdowns populated from external sources
  • real-time data access for smarter forms
  • simplified configuration for faster setup
  • form-level control without global impact

Whether it is a list of medications, lab results, or patient demographics, data connectors let you pull in what you need without the risk of unintended changes elsewhere.

Expressions Assistant: Making writing dependencies easier

Expressions are the backbone of dynamic forms and data logic in Studio. But writing them has often felt like solving a puzzle, especially when you are unsure which function to use or how to structure it. The Expressions Assistant has been part of Studio for a while, but in this release, it is received a much-needed upgrade.

This improved version is designed to support both mouse and keyboard users more intuitively, offering a smoother and more dynamic workflow.

Whether you are calculating BMI, setting up conditional visibility, or referencing values from other fields, the assistant now makes it easier to write expressions with confidence.

What is improved:

  • autocomplete for functions and variables
  • syntax hints to reduce errors
  • inline documentation so you do not have to leave the editor
  • better usability for both mouse and keyboard workflows

It is not a brand-new feature, but it is a smarter, more helpful version of one that many users already rely on.

Other Improvements

Alongside these headline features, Studio 3.13 also brings:

  • New layout options V Stack and H Stack improve form creation and design.
  • The Help menu in the left side panel for easier access to supportdocumentation, and Hive.
  • Improved Canvas Multimedia feature for more colour options and flexibility.
  • Better performance and stability of Studio.
  • UI enhancements for a smoother experience.
  • Minor bug fixes and optimizations.
