After completing a development programme and working closely with Better teams for over a year to learn about Better technology, the two companies have now entered into a partnership agreement that will look to jointly improve care outcomes across Lithuania. Varutis is committed to advancing the digitalisation of healthcare by implementing internationally recognised standards such as openEHR and FHIR, as they allow for open, interoperable data sharing across healthcare providers, enabling better care coordination and patient outcomes.

As the foundation for its OpenCare solution, Varutis will use the Better digital health platform. Better platform will help reduce the time and effort required to create new EHR modules, ensure data management and quality, allow for longitudinal care records, and incorporate AI into health and care processes. This new EHR system and platform will enable more engaged and tailored healthcare and will be rolled out at hospitals and clinics across Lithuania.

Health data and solutions should be shared

One of the key reasons Varutis chose to partner with Better is the shared belief in community collaboration and the importance of open standards. Varutis is dedicated to sharing any developments made through this collaboration with other users as part of the shared ecosystem, contributing to the postmodern EHR model. This approach reinforces the vision that health data and solutions should be shared among providers to drive innovation and improve care.

Tomaž Gornik, CEO and founder of Better, said: “We are thrilled to be partnering with Varutis to bring openEHR-based solutions to Lithuania. Our platform is designed to meet the needs of healthcare organisations that seek to digitalise and future-proof their operations, and we are excited to see how Varutis OpenCare will transform healthcare delivery for its users.”

The new partnership with Better will widely open doors for the Varutis team to create open standards and AI-based products for our healthcare customers. We strongly believe that products created in cooperation with Better will engage the medical community in new, innovative ways, elevating the entire health tech sector in Lithuania,” said Evaldas Dobravolskas, CEO of Varutis.

As the adoption of openEHR grows across Europe and the world, Lithuania represents an exciting market with great potential for the openEHR standard. The partnership between Varutis and Better will help bring the benefits of openEHR to Lithuania, providing a more collaborative, interoperable healthcare environment.
