Studio building hour recap: Inside the making of a patient referral dashboard

Instead of talking about features in the abstract, we focused on showing exactly how a low‑code approach helps clinicians, analysts, and digital teams translate workflow needs into working tools.

This month’s session walked users through each step of the build, highlighting not only how to create a dashboard, but why low‑code design accelerates iteration, feedback, and collaboration.

What were we able to do? A lot!

This episode centered on building a patient referral dashboard with the help of worklists. These are practical structures that sit on top of referral data to help teams track patient journeys, spot bottlenecks, and understand referral activity over time.

During the build along, we started with the referral form created in episode 1 and continued the care process: once clinicians and staff begin capturing structured clinical data, how can that information be transformed into something immediately useful?

Our product specialist Ian Bennett led the walkthrough, demonstrating a couple of key points on how to best showcase clinical data.

Participants learned how to:

🗂️ Select and prepare data from the underlying diabetes nurse referral form.

📊 Configure dashboard components, including widgets, charts and visual indicators.

⚙️ Use Better Studio’s low‑code design tools to map clinical data points into meaningful metrics.

✅ Showcase the final dashboard decision‑making, from referral volumes to reasons for referral and status tracking.

The goal wasn’t just to show the technical steps (though they were all covered), but to illustrate the mindset behind building quick, clean, high‑impact tools in Better Studio.

Why build along webinars matter?

Healthcare organisations generate huge amounts of structured data through forms, templates, and workflow tools. But the value of that data depends on how easily it can be interpreted and acted upon.

Our webinars demonstrate why good low-code and healthcare specific solutions play a crucial role in streamlining clinical evaluations and data sharing, without compromising privacy and safety.

With Better Studio, we can:

ℹ️ Turn everyday form entries into operational intelligence.

📈 Help teams spot trends without needing external BI tools or developer support.

🛠️ Show low‑code tools empower clinical and operations teams to build exactly what they need, when they need it.

📉 Reduce the gap between data collection and data use, something many organisations struggle with.

By walking through the dashboard build end‑to‑end, we highlighted how Better Studio supports an iterative, collaborative approach: Clinicians define the questions, designers shape the workflow, and with low‑code building blocks, the solution comes together quickly and transparently.
