Better have partnered with Alcidion to deliver its Better Meds electronic Prescribing and Medications Administration system to Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust and thus improve patient outcomes and free up medical teams to spend more time providing care to patients.
After University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust and Taunton and Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, who both already went live in 2019, Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust is the 3rd UK site to implement Better Meds. The primary role of Better will be to supply the software, but also supporting the partner to make sure that the implementation is successful: the Better Meds team will shadow the implementation processes within the Trust and help the technical team to ensure that the transition from paper to the electronic system is done seamlessly.
Once Better Meds is implemented, medical teams will no longer have to search for paper records which can go missing during the patient’s stay. They will have proactive alerts which again means better outcomes for the patients due to fewer mistakes. Moreover, they will no longer have to rewrite any of the medication charts ever again. This is also a safety improvement as well as a massive improvement in time.
Roko Malkoč, Business Unit Manager, Better Meds, commented, that by collaborating with Alcidion in Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust, Better will aim to create an environment which maximises patient safety, improves collaboration among staff, and enables holistic care of patients.

About Better

Better is one of Europe's leading IT providers for healthcare solutions and professional services and is collaborating with a variety of clients in order to achieve one goal – to prepare for a better future. This is a future that moves towards open platforms and away from siloed solutions; a future where clinical teams can work with any digital solution provider, without being tied to a particular vendor; a future where, storing data in an open, vendor-neutral format will incite vendors to innovate and create better solutions.

The core technology solution, the Better Platform, is well-aligned with this vision and is based on openEHR specifications. The Better Meds by Better product (a closed-loop medication management system) is built on top of the Better Platform and follows the same vision. Better is currently present on three continents and in 16 international markets, including the UK, the Netherlands, Germany, Malta, Russia, Norway, Finland, Italy, Switzerland, and Slovenia.
