The latest update of Better Meds, version 3.17, continues our mission to empower healthcare professionals with tools that prioritise patient-centric care and enhance clinical workflows.
This release introduces robust features for creating and managing notes, completing VTE assessments, tracking point-of-care (POC) test results, and efficiently handling day case prescriptions. Together, these updates enable clinicians to deliver timely, accurate, and comprehensive care.
Smarter notes for better collaboration
Healthcare providers often face challenges communicating important patient-related clinical information in a shared environment such as Better Meds. Our Notes functionality offers a flexible way of sharing relevant notes or instructions about the patient with other team members involved in patient care.
With version 3.17, it is possible to:
- Create and share patient-specific notes easily.
- Specify the duration of a note to ensure information remains relevant and actionable.
Edit existing notes, keeping patient data current and fostering collaboration across teams.
The improved Notes functionality helps centralise critical patient information and ensures that care decisions are always informed by the latest updates.

Seamless VTE assessments
Timely venous thromboembolism (VTE) assessments are integral to patient safety. With this update, hospitals will be able to configure whether a VTE assessment prompt is mandatory or not based on the patient’s information.
This update enables users to:
- Complete VTE assessments during active patient encounters or even before admission.
- Access and stay informed about the results directly within the system.
By integrating VTE assessment into the workflow, Better Meds helps reduce the risk of complications and ensures comprehensive care.

Point of care (POC) results integration
Accurate medication titration depends on real-time data. Clinicians need a reliable way to track accurately and document POC test values to ensure consistent patient monitoring and avoid delays in adjusting medication titration based on real-time data.
This new feature makes it possible to:
- Manually input point-of-care test values for blood glucose, CrCl, eGFR, and INR.
- Display these results in the “Lab results” view and titration window for easy monitoring and adjustment.
This functionality ensures timely updates for patient management, minimising delays and enhancing the quality of care.

Day case prescribing made easy
To streamline the handling of day case prescriptions, version 3.17 introduces a new inpatient prescription subtype: Day case prescription.
The users will have the option to:
- Manually convert an existing inpatient prescription to a day case prescription.
- Manage day case and inpatient prescriptions separately while using the same intuitive prescribing logic.
This enhancement simplifies workflows for clinicians, enabling efficient care for patients in day-case scenarios.
Version 3.17 reflects our commitment to building tools that adapt to the evolving needs of clinicians and patients. By enabling smarter note management, proactive risk assessment, real-time data integration, and streamlined prescribing workflows, Better Meds enhances every stage of the care process.
