Better Platform’s latest release brings a suite of updates in its core components, focusing on improved patient data security and enhanced compatibility. These upgrades improve both the security and interoperability of the platform while ensuring ongoing compliance with industry standards.
This release focuses on upgrades to the EHR Server, Demographics Server, and Attribute-Based Access Control (ABAC) policies, and the key updates are:
SMART on FHIR and SMART on openEHR support
Better Platform now supports SMART on FHIR and SMART on openEHR, ensuring interoperability between these key healthcare standards. This compatibility allows healthcare providers and developers to implement adaptable and secure EHR solutions, promoting innovation without compromising data security.
OpenSearch security integration
Better Platform now includes SSL and authentication support for communication between Better products and OpenSearch. This additional security measure makes sure that only authorised users can access data, reducing potential vulnerabilities.
ODR enhanced with ECL support
With added support for SNOMED CT’s Expression Constraint Language (ECL), users can now conduct precise queries and filter complex clinical data within SNOMED CT. This functionality supports healthcare systems in creating detailed, standards-compliant datasets, enhancing both accuracy and data integrity.
Updated ABAC policies for enhanced access control
The ABAC policies have been improved, allowing decisions based on data specifics, including composition content, during updates and searches. This ensures tailored access policies, empowering users to maintain high standards of data privacy.
Matija Polajnar, Better Platform Core Technical Lead, emphasised the focus on enhanced security in this release. “Ensuring patient data protection is a top priority, and this release highlights our commitment to robust security. We are enabling healthcare organisations to advance their digital transformation journeys, knowing their data remains well-protected,” he said.
